Iphone 8 could come with long anticipated solution: Wireless Charging

Expected iphone 8

iPhone 8 is shaping up to be one of the most superb Apple smartphones to date if current rumors are to be believed.

According to the stream of leaks, the iPhone 8 will have glass panels on the front and rear of the device, with a small curve to the borderless OLED display.

Apple is also expected to drop its quintessential Home Button, hiding the fingerprint device technology underneath the glass display instead.

And now additional clues have emerged that Apple is planning to incorporate innovative wireless charging technology into its next smartphone.

Unlike rival devices from Google, Samsung, HTC, and Huawei, which mostly use the qi open interface standard to power their inductive charging – the technology enforced by Apple appears like a far higher solution.

Devices using the qi standard, just like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, are only capable of wireless charging over distances of up to four centimeters (1.6 inches).

For most users, that means positioning the phone on the charging selected pad, which means that the only advantage of the so-called wireless charging – is the reality you ought not to plug a cable into the device.

According to the current whispers from Cupertino, Apple has something rather more formidable planned.

The company is rumoured to be operating with wireless charging company Energous, that developed a wire-free charging solution dubbed WattUp capable of charging devices from up to four metres away (15-feet).

WattUp technology will be included during a wide range of electronics, including smartphones, tablets, wearables, cameras, wireless keyboard, computer mice, remote controls, and more, according to the company.

As long as any of these devices are within four metres of the transmitter, the device can charge its battery – as if it had been plugged into the electric outlet.

The radio frequency (RF) system uses an identical system to WiFi to deliver the safe wire-free charging solution.

Unlike the qi charging pads used for phones like the Galaxy S7 Edge, WattUp can still charge your phone while it's in motion – as long as it never moves more than four metres faraway from the transmitter, of course.

Although, Energous has never confirmed it's co-operating with Apple to implement the Inovative technology into the iPhone, it definitely hasn't done something to dispel the rumours.

Watt Technology can be added to different type of electronics

Energous this week made an appearance at the CES technology exposition in Las Vegas, showcasing new wireless charging pads.

The last time the company was at the exposition was back in 2015, when it promised to ship its long-distance WattUp RF technology.

However these plans were placed on hold when it signed a "key strategic partnership" resulting in a revived focus on miniaturising the charging technology before shipping it.

The deal made by Energous also allowed its mysterious partner to be the primary to ship the charging technology inside smartphones, laptops, tablets, and certain wearables and accessories. That meant the plans showcased by Energous at CES 2015 had to be placed on hold.

When pushed concerning the identity of the partner who will be first to market with the WattUp RF technology, Energous chief executive officer Steve Rizzone said the partnership is with "one of the biggest consumer electronic firms in the world.

"I cannot tell you who it is, however, I can virtual guarantee that you just have products from this company on your person, sitting on your table, or at home."

According to Energous, up to 12 completely different receiver devices will be juggled by the system at the same time.

So in theory, your Apple Watch, Apple Magic Keyboard and Mouse, iPhone 8 and iPad pro might all be at the same time charging whenever they're within the same area as a WattUp RF transmitter.

So, while you are sitting at your table at work – your iPhone 8 are going to be charging within the background, making it very tough to find yourself low on battery.

Airports, coffee outlets, libraries, and more, might all implement the transmitters, which means your iPhone would forever be charged.

Fuelling the rumours that Energous signed an exclusivity deal with Apple, a brand new report from fast Company, Apple supplier Dialog has partnered with Energous.

As part of the new deal, Energous received a staggering $10 million investment from chipset maker Dialog Semiconductor last month.
