Android O will help ensure you never miss out on the latest releases. A new feature for developers lets them integrate a new emoji library that automatically fills in missing emoji even if you don't have it available on your keyboard yet.

2. Smart Sharing

Android O has the ability to understand what you have in your photos and recommend specific apps and actions based on what is in it the composition and your prior behavior. "If a user takes a photo of a receipt, Android O can suggest an expense-tracking app; if the user takes a selfie, a social media app can better handle the image," Google says.

Land Rover is building a special edition of its entry-level compact luxury SUV, suitably called the Evoque Landmark edition, to celebrate achieving 600,000 sales in six years.

To put those figures into perspective, it took the original Land Rover Defender 58 years to notch up 2 million sales, and it has taken Mercedes Benz (a company with a much larger selection of off-roaders and crossovers in its range) 37 years to sell 4 million SUVs.

However, the Evoque is set to face some serious competition from Land Rover's sister company, Jaguar. Its first ever SUV, the F-Pace is proving to be the most sought-after car in the company's history and sales are set to rocket thanks to it being crowned 2017 World Car of the Year in April (the first SUV to clinch the coveted award).

BlackBerry KEYone brings BlackBerry back in business

The Blackberry KEYone was revealed at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, the new device was officially put up for sale in the UK earlier this week.

The famous old departmental store London’s Selfridges remains the only place you can buy the BlackBerry KEYone at the moment, with the department store having an exclusive until today May 5th, when Carphone Warehouse will also start selling the device.

For first timers, it seems that the BlackBerry KEYone is setting itself up to be something truly different from everything else around today.

“We're very proud of the BlackBerry brand,” Johnathan Young, BlackBerry’s Mobile’s UK Country Manager, told Express.co.uk at the KEYone launch event.

“But we're not going in the same way as every other device.”

“There are so many alternatives around - but (the KEYone) is completely different - what we’ve decided to do is redesign for people to rediscover BlackBerry,”

“Every device looks the same now…but I think that people want choice, and this is what we’re offering them with KEYone.”

  

The KEYone is, of course, a visual departure from past BlackBerry devices, with a flay new all-metal build.

The front of the device also now combines the company’s iconic QWERTY keyboard with a touchscreen, meaning users get the best of both worlds.

BlackBerry is also keen to highlight the software included in its new device, particularly the DTEK security tools.

The company says that the KEYone is right up there with the most secure smartphones available today, with the advanced DTEK software combined with encryption built into the device’s hardware itself.

“Security and privacy are at the heart of what we do,” Young says, “We are the world's most secure Android phone.”

Young believes that KEYone is the key to get users to return to BlackBerry, and perhaps begin yet another Successful season for the company.

In his word "We never went away - our customers did. This will be the device that will make customers rediscover a brand new BlackBerry".

Samsung Galaxy S8 owners blocked from customising Bixby button in new phone

SAMSUNG GALAXY S8 users can no longer be able to customise the Bixby button on their new phone, following a change of heart by the South Korean technology firm.

The new button, housed beneath the volume rockers on the left hand-side of the phone, is reserved for Samsung's new voice assistant, Bixby.

Tapping the button while within a supported app will permit Samsung Galaxy S8 owners to regulate functions on the phone with simple voice commands.

Bixby is context aware, which means that, provided you are within a compatible app, you can refer directly to things that are happening on-screen.

Commands like "make a folder with these photos”, “when was this taken?” or "what is this?” will work with the new assistant – unlike several of its rivals.

Unfortunately, Samsung delayed the voice support – with the functionality supposedly set to launch in the United Kingdom later this year.

The Bixby button will only serves to launch a Google Now-style news feed that attempts to surface useful information, upcoming calendar appointments, and relevant news stories.

Early owners of Galaxy S8 handsets were allowed to remap the shortcut linked to the Bixby button.

This enabled users to remap the button to trigger rival voice assistant Google Assistant, launch the default camera, or open a favourite application.

But, the latest Galaxy S8 firmware update pushed-out by Samsung shuts down the ability to remap the Bixby button.

Previously, the command from the Bixby button was "intercepted" by the Accessibility Services built into Android.

This also has enabled third-party apps – provided they had the requisite accessibility permissions – to change its default function.

Samsung with the latest Galaxy S8 system firmware update has closed this loophole.

Logitech has unveiled a new keyboard called G413. Logitech With this new keyboard is transiting to a completely new design direction.

The last gaming keyboard Logitech produced, the Logitech Pro, is essentially just a TKL version of the G810 Orion Spectrum; the G610 models are also nearly the same as the G810 Orion Spectrum, but with Cherry switches instead of Romer-G switches, and without RGB lighting. They’re all unassuming black rectangles.

Design Changes

The G413 models show that Logitech is expanding its design in terms of language to accommodate more users. First, gone is the all-black finish; instead, you can get the G413 in Carbon or Silver. Second, instead of the more traditional backplate-and-top-cover design, Logitech has followed much of the keyboard market by creating the G413 with a top plate design, with the switches mounted on top of an anodized aluminum plate.

There is also a functional change, but once you start fiddling with how your keyboard is built, you get a bit of a domino effect. For example, it has been noticed in the past that Romer-G switches on Logitech keyboards are a little noisy--there’s quite a bit of “ping” when you’re clacking away. The older design abated this somewhat, but with the switches sitting on the top plate, the noise is significantly more pronounced. To be sure we weren’t imagining things, we pulled out the G810 Orion Spectrum to compare; it’s not even close.

The other notable change that comes with the new design concerns the lighting. Logitech’s lighting system is excellent, largely due to the through-stem lighting design of the Romer-G switches that ensures all keycap legends are evenly and brightly lit. The same is true of the G413, of course, but you now also get an under-key glowing effect. Whether or not that appeals to you is a matter of preference, but note that it’s there.

Software.

The G413, predictably, comes with the Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) as well as Overwolf, which “gives in-game access to anything from PC performance statistics and monitoring to game-specific tools like LoL Wiz and CS:GO Stats.”

With LGS, you have control over a couple of lighting options the G413 affords, assign commands (including macros) to all 12 F keys, disable any key you want when you’re in Game Mode, and get a heat map of your gameplay.

Uber to Partner with Mercedes for more Autodrive cars

Uber has already started testing its self-driving fleet of vehicles in two markets, although the state of California wasn’t too happy about Uber circumventing the rules in San Francisco. In the future, the ride-sharing company will employ a diverse fleet of autonomous vehicles that will include Mercedes-Benz cars.

Uber inked a deal with Daimler, Reuters reports, that will bring self-driving Mercedes models to Uber’s fleet of self-driving vehicles in the coming years.

It’s unclear at this point when these Mercedes cars will be incorporated into Uber’s fleet, or what type of vehicles to expect. Neither Uber nor Daimler offered additional details on the deal. However, Reuters notes that Daimler is the first auto company to join Uber’s self-driving initiative.

“We are incredibly excited by the potential for self-driving cars to further our mission of bringing reliable transportation to everyone, everywhere,” Uber Chief Executive Travis Kalanick said in a blog post.

“They will also help to reduce traffic accidents, which today kill many people a year; free up the huge amount of space currently used to park the world’s billion-plus cars; and cut congestion, which is choking our cities.”

Uber, however, doesn’t want to make its own self-driving cars. That’s why it needs Daimler and many others.

“Auto manufacturers like Daimler are crucial to our strategy because Uber has no experience making cars — and in fact, making cars is really hard,” the CEO said.

That said, Uber is still developing its own self-driving technology. It previously inked a $300 million deal with Volvo, whose cars are currently part of Uber’s self-driving pilots in Pennsylvania and Arizona, which replaced California.

While Uber and Volvo are developing self-driving cars together and these test Volvo cars have Uber self-driving technology preinstalled, the Mercedes models won’t be managed by Uber, and they will run autonomous driving technology created solely by the German giant.
