Leaked documents suggest Apple will launch a premium iPhone codenamed 'Ferrari' next year

A Chinese social media user has revealed what they claim are leaked production documents from Apple that seem to substantiate rumours that the company can launch three iPhones in 2017 — "s" models of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7and, and a redesigned, top-tier model internally codenamed "Ferrari," Apple corporate executive reports.

The blogger, who posted the document on one amongst China's biggest social media platforms Sina Weibo (it was first noticed by Chinese technology web site cnBeta), is understood for leaking info from Apple's East Asian supply chain.

And the documents seem to verify a list of rumours concerning options the "Ferrari" — maybe a codename for the iPhone 8 or the iPhone 10 — can have.

The rumoured options include an "AMOLED" panel — a brand new kind of OLED (organic LED display) screen already utilized by Samsung — which might enable the phone to possess a borderless, all-display front surface. Another rumour is that the OLED screen would be mounted on plastic, suggesting that it would be arced. This lines up with a report from The Wall Street Journal that says Apple is testing prototypes for brand new iPhones which can have a brand new style focused on a sinuous screen.

Other rumoured options the document mentions include a glass-sandwich style (glass at the front and back of the phone), an "invisible" home button, and wireless charging.

The "Ferrari" iPhone, that can be released to mark the iPhone's tenth anniversarycan accompany "a substantial internal design," the leaked documents claim. The document additionally says that Apple is considering relocating the SIM card receptacle towards the bottom of the handset to create area for internal parts.

The iPhone 7s and 7s plus, internally codenamed D20 and d21, are expected to possess liquid crystal display displays like previous iPhones, the documents reveal.

All of this is often in line speculatively from KGI Securities, that pointed to three iPhone models in 2017, with just one sporting the new reasonably OLED screen.
